Schedule 2 of the Waste Management and Pollution Control Regulations defines listed wastes. Operators must hold an environment protection licence for activities involving listed wastes, including collection, transport, storage, treatment or disposal.
Use waste tracking system
Controlled waste movements into or out of the NT require a consignment authorisation and a Waste Transfer Certificate generated through the NT Online Waste Tracking System. Each consignment must have its own certificate.
Record intrastate movements
Tracking within the NT is voluntary; however, licenced waste operators must maintain records of waste handling and report annual handling volumes in accordance with licence conditions.

All listed waste must be delivered to a facility authorised to receive it. Illegal dumping or disposal of waste at unlicensed sites is prohibited and subject to enforcement action.
