Home indemnity insurance over $20k
Home indemnity insurance must be taken out in the owner’s name for residential building work valued over $20,000 before any payment is accepted or work begins. The policy covers the construction period and six years from practical completion and must be lodged with the building permit application.
Exceptions to home indemnity insurance
